The short version: ClipMusic recognition data from July 2026: a 25-year-old Aphex Twin track was identified from more videos than any current hit, 8 of the 15 biggest new entries have "slowed" in the title, and Russian-language tracks keep their grip on the top of the chart. Full data below.
This is the second edition of our monthly chart built from a data source no streaming platform has: the songs people couldn't identify on their own. Every row below started with someone pasting a TikTok, Reels, or Shorts link into our video music finder because a video's sound had no usable label.
Between July 5 and August 8, 2026, that happened 41,306 times. Those attempts successfully matched audio from 10,553 distinct videos — 5,105 from TikTok, 3,130 from Instagram, 1,055 from X/Twitter, 901 from YouTube, and 362 from Douyin — and surfaced 6,184 songs we had never logged before. Here's what that data says about July.
Where This Data Comes From
Quick methodology note, same rules as the June edition. A "recognition" is one successful match between a user-submitted video and a track. A "videos" count is the number of distinct videos a track was identified from during the window. This is not a streaming chart: songs appear here precisely because they were hard to find — unlabeled uploads, "original sound" posts, remixes, and tracks in languages viewers can't search by lyrics. It's a chart of curiosity, not consumption.

Ranking by how many different videos a track was pulled from tells you which sounds spread the widest:

The headline is that Aphex Twin is winning July 2026. "180Db_ [130]" is a frantic drill'n'bass cut from the Drukqs era — music written two decades before the vertical video existed — and it was identified from 47 different videos, nearly double the runner-up. It's the clearest case yet of a pattern we keep seeing: short-video editors mine catalog deep cuts for texture, the algorithm spreads the edit, and a new generation hits a wall trying to name a track that predates every sound library they know.

Three Things July's Data Says
1. "Slowed" is no longer a variant — it's the default
Eight of the fifteen biggest new entries in July carry "slowed" (or "Super Slowed", or "Slow Version") in the title, and the montagem wave — Brazilian funk edits built for exactly this ecosystem — landed its biggest track yet with "MONTAGEM GUERREIRO". Across our full database, roughly one in five successful identifications now points at a modified version rather than an original master. We wrote about why remix culture breaks ordinary music search; July was the strongest month yet for that thesis. If you're wondering why your phone's built-in recognition can't name these, it's because many exist only as re-uploads with shifted tempo and pitch.
2. The catalog raid continues
June gave us a 1982 new-wave revival; July's chart reaches even wider: Aphex Twin at #1, UGK's 2007 anthem, a Zelda: Wind Waker cue from Nintendo's 2003 soundtrack, Harry Styles' 2017 ballad, and Clams Casino's 2011 cloud-rap landmark "I'm God" still hanging on from last month. None of these are promoted by labels right now. They're being rediscovered by editors, and viewers have no path from "this sounds amazing" to a track name without a recognition tool — a game soundtrack cue has no lyrics to search.
3. Russian-language tracks hold the top for a second month
«Камин» topped June and was still being identified from 20 fresh videos in July, joined by two new Russian-language entries («Дайте», «Базовый минимум»). Combined with Turkish rap holdovers and the Brazilian montagem breakout, the pattern is stable: the language barrier is one of the biggest single drivers of music-recognition demand. You can't type lyrics you can't transcribe.
